News Flash The local body elections are on at the moment and I have decide to stand for the Shirley-Papanui Ward as a City Councillor. The main driving force for that decision is frustration with our current Mayor and Council. For far too long the council spending has been out of control, and the Mayor seems intent on bankrupting the city, with some expenditure we as ratepayers do not agree with. The Henderson bail out is a prime example. If elected to council my aim is to ensure that all issues are brought out into the open where good debate can happen, so that the council can make the best decisions for the city and it's ratepayers. The debate has risen with the 2 leading Mayoral candidates as to their suitability for the job, one has a poor track record and will probably be dumped as Mayor regardles. the other candidate is a sitting MP and will be a part time Mayor for the first 8-10 months and at the age of 72 this is a major issue. |
